The best in acoustic music: contemporary and traditional folk, country, blues, comedy, jazz & standards
Every other Monday (closed during July & August) 8.00 p.m. - 10.30 p.m.
Held at The Warwick Arms Hotel, High Street, Warwick CV34 4AT
It’s been said that the only difference between Steve
Tilston and Ralph McTell is “Streets Of London” - in other
words, Ralph was lucky enough to have a hit. That doesn’t
mean someone who didn’t have one hasn’t managed to
write lots of good songs. Fairport Convention think Steve
has, having recorded “Slip Jigs And Reels” and “The
Reckoning” won the 2012 Radio 2 Folk Award for best
He’s just made an album on which he joined forces
with Jez Lowe and continues to bring out songs which
are both meaningful and amazingly catchy! Don’t
underestimate his guitar playing which while it’s never
flashy, always fits the song in just the right way.
The openers tonight will be fine female trio Sensible Shoes who opened for Steve the last time he
was at the club - but why change a tried and tested format...?
If you would like to reserve tickets - and pay on the night - please send
an email including a contact telephone number. It’s as simple as that!
Here’s a reminder - should you need one - of what a good writer, singer and guitarist Steve is on a
snippet of a song about his early days in music called “Grass Days” from his 2015 album “Truth To Tell”
