The best in acoustic music: contemporary and traditional folk, country, blues, comedy, jazz & standards
We heard not one, but two groups new to the club - the first was
Journeyman from south-west Worcestershire: Paul, Andy, Marco
and Zoe who will be one of the four groups on the bill on February
27th next year. They played a variety of their own songs, with Zoe
being the main vocalist as well as the fiddler.
There was an unexpected but welcome
visit from Ian Buchanan, based in North
Staffordshire. His songs included Tom
Rush’s“No Regrets” (which would have
fitted on Top 20 Night) and the great Steve
Earle song “Copperhead Road” which Ian
described as a “mandolin thrasher”!
We were pleased to hear
Denise Dryburgh, once
a third of The Morning
After. Denise included
“The Mary Ellen Carter”
a rousing chorus song;
please note how very well
her outfit co-ordinates
with the club banner...
The other group new to the club
was NooT - which stands for
“Nicely Out Of Tune”, not describing
their sound but the title of the first
album by Lindisfarne - and they
regaled us with several songs
from that band’s repertoire.
