What Went On
September 10th - Performers’ Night
Starting the “proper” autumn season, we had two newcomers and a few “old hands” - and as usual
a very wide range of music. There was a bit of jazz, some originals,  two by Richard Thompson and one
by Tom Paxton, some funnies, a couple of pop songs, quite a few traditional - and lots of great choruses.
First “regular” was
Laura Kisby who
included the timeless
Sandy Denny song
“Who Knows Where
The Time Goes”.
Sue , Sally & Robin did two
“garden” related songs,
one being “Flowers In The
Rain” the 1967 hit for The Move, done in a gentle
“shuffle” style, which had everyone singing.
The second “newbies”
Paul & Pam, weren’t really as
they’d been to one of the
First newcomer was
Lyn Briggs from
Trimdon (County
Durham) now living
in Australia. Lyn’s set
included “My Laggan
Love, which she
sang acappella.
August singarounds.
They did two originals, one being about the sinking
of HMS Curacao in World War II. As Pam said,
an  ideal subject for a folk song, huge loss
of life but a great chorus to sing..!
